so, i eventually decided that this place wasn't the apostate hot bed i was led to believe ;-), (or maybe i am now an apostate!
but i don't feel like one.)..
i was brought up in "the truth".. i loved it.

****for those only interested in the jw part just skip own to part 2.***************.
so i just got back last night from a 16 day trip to jamaica.
our purpose in going was:.
Manchester is really nice...it seems that retirees tend to gravitate towards that side of the island.
While there, I ran into some Mormons (Latter Day Saints)...but it doesn't seem the locals are interested, I guess most folks there are either non-religous or simply go with what their family/parents are in.
For anyone interested in visiting there, especially Negril, Couples and Sandals/Beaches is worth reading about and visiting.

@SophieG: Negril is quite nice...Rick's Cafe is awesome...some nice places to eat and hang-out!
What I like with Negril is the ease to get around...the cabs are right at your finger tips.

2013 was a record breaking year for firearm purchases.
2014 is supposed to be a record breaker for ammunition.. do you own a firearm?
but i support that right for others---if they are qualified..
I have non-JW family members and friends who own firearms...I see no problems with owning them once you do your utmost to keep them secure and used primarily for self defense or hunting.

Quite an experience....I feel some patties too :-(
It was really nice of you and your wife to assist those that are less fortunate. I, too, had the experience of helping out some folks there when I visited a school to plant some trees as a part of an environmental awareness project. The locals are really appreciative of any assistance they receive. The health facilities there are in need of help...every little thing helps.
A couple years ago, I went to Jamaica for a week, but packed an entire suitcase with books, pens and other stationaries to give away to the kids in the community where I stayed.
Yes, as you travel you'll realize that many folks hate the JW's...in Jamaica, many persons firmly beleived that 1975 would be a big year, and here we are many years later.
The experience of the folks there preaching is interesting...the older JW's get more extreme as time goes on and also give the impression that they're better than "worldly" people.
Jamaica is a nice place to have a vacation especially at an all-inclusive hotel...you took some nice pictures.

sometime in the early 1990s i made a commitment to myself that if the end did not come in 2014 i was going to walk away.
then i started thinking - if i waited until 2014 i would be 57 years old with very few options.
that is when i realized that i needed to make changes to get my life back.
I wonder if there are other JW's who had 2014 as a cut off date to remain in the cult...i guess only time will tell!
